Eels - "Lockdown Hurricane" video

The big Eels-related news lately has been that the reclusive former Journey frontman Steve Perry has randomly joined Mark Oliver Everett and his band for a few shows. That’s awesome, and noteworthy, but it shouldn’t distract too much from what Everett does so consistently, cranking out album after album of prettily downbeat California studio-pop. The new Eels album The Cautionary Tales Of Mark Oliver Everett includes a sadly gorgeous song called “Lockdown Hurricane,” and the song’s new video is a cinematic mini-thriller, a story about a couple with an unknown past, on the run, hiding out and changing their identity. You won’t be able to watch it at work, but you should watch it anyway. It’s at Noisey.

The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett is out now on E Works.
