Cut Copy

Last year Cut Copy embraced their psychedelic side like never before with Free Your Mind, a record that acted like a summer blockbuster reboot of Primal Scream’s 1991 classic Screamadelica. Now they’ve put together a funny and strange video for the thumping disco groove of “Meet Me In A House Of Love.” In case you’re not super familiar with what Cut Copy look like: The guy in this video is not part of the band. His name is Ben Sinclair, and outside of this he’s the co-creator and star of High Maintenance, a web series (available free on Vimeo) that is better than just about anything you’ll find on TV, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Here he plays the host of a late-night show populated entirely by cardboard cutouts. Watch it below.

Free Your Mind is out now via Modular.

  1. I’m so bummed that they seemed to have become less popular since Free Your Mind’s release. What a great album. Its a throwback album for sure, but newer bands like Jagwar Ma (who are also excellent) are getting great scores for doing the same thing.

However, I feel like the Screamadelica references are a bit off-base. Free Your Mind is a pretty up-beat album whereas Screamadelica turns into a slower, more introspective album after the first few songs (excluding Loaded).

  2. I second Miles’ endorsement of High Maintenance, such a great show.

Ps. Good video too, Ben’s beard looks as good as ever.

  3. King of Comedy anyone??
