Recently, for three random shows, the former Journey frontman Steve Perry resurfaced, singing with Mark Oliver Everett’s confessional L.A. chamber-pop group Eels and, for whatever reason, basically briefly joining the band. That meant Eels had to learn all these Journey songs, and there’s no reason to let that knowledge go to waste even if Perry isn’t singing with your band. Last night, the band played a three-encore show in Amsterdam, and after covering both Elvis Presley and Harry Nilsson, they did a soft and sensitive version of Journey’s deathless “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Watch a fan-made video below.

Even if Steve Perry isn’t in your band anymore, sometimes you just need to hold on to that feeling.
