Girl Talk & Freeway – “Tolerated (Wolf Eyes Remix)”

By Chris DeVille / June 26, 2014

Before he was out there pushing the concept of mashups to an unforeseen extent, helping indie kids bring their love for pop music into the light, and massively shortening our collective attention span, Gregg Gillis started Girl Talk as an experimental noise project. So it’s only a little bit surprising that noise luminaries Wolf Eyes were given a crack at “Tolerated,” the lead single (and video of the year candidate) from Girl Talk & Freeway’s collaborative EP Broken Ankles. As you might expect, the Wolf Eyes version isn’t all that reminiscent of the original. That one was brutal in its own way, but this is a choppy, droning, deconstructed house of horrors that feels like an asphyxiation. Download it below.
