Suno Deko – “Bluets”

Suno Deko is Atlanta one-man band David Courtright, maker of evocative melancholy experimental pop songs. His upcoming EP Thrown Color includes “Bluets,” a song that mines the reverb-laden psych of fellow Atlantans Deerhunter, but with floatier, more spacious results, as if that band’s spongy guitars had been squeezed dry and carried away by the wind. Courtright’s lyrics explore Big Ideas in a way that will resonate with fans of Mutual Benefit, with whom Suno Deko will tour this fall: “The stars burn holes in our bodies/ Holes we fill with our dreams/ I’m walking backwards through you/ Back through visions of our youth.” He’s also doing hometown shows with How To Dress Well, Hundred Waters, and GEMS, so you’re bound to be hearing more from him soon.
