The Gaslight Anthem - Get Hurt

Recently, New Jersey rockers the Gaslight Anthem announced their forthcoming album Get Hurt, the follow-up to 2012′s Handwritten, and they shared the clean, chugging first single “Rollin’ And Tumblin’.” And now they’re sharing the LP’s title track, which sounds more like the Killers than I ever expected the Gaslight Anthem to sound. “Get Hurt” is a grand, synthy midtempo ballad, and its title will probably describe what happens to the feelings of a lot of the people who loved The ’59 Sound when they hear this one. Listen to it below.

Get Hurt is out 8/16 on Mercury.

  1. sounds like this could be their “Only By The Night”

  2. When I see “Gaslight Anthem have released their first single” I’m expecting some ‘rebel without a cause,’ foot-stomping, drum & Fender driven summer single shit. Not this. Just listened to it and have already forgotten it.

  3. I don’t know why everyone is saying this sound is radically different. They traditionally do a ballad or two on each album, and this single does not delve too far from that territory. Still all good though.

    • i was thinking the same exact thing. this actually fits quite well with the ’59 sound-type stuff they’ve been alluding to with the past two records.

and what the fuck, when have they never been a ballads band? weird history rewrite, stereogum/stereogum readers.
