Watch Courtney Barnett Cover The Entire INXS Album Kick

In late 2012, Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett performed INXS’ 1987 album Kick in its entirety for Melbourne-based Pure Pop Records’ “Summer Of Classic Albums” concert series and video from that performance has finally been uploaded. “I’ve never been as nervous as I am right now for any show I’ve ever done,” she said before starting her stripped down set. INXS’ songs don’t come close to the lyrical acrobatics that Barnett manages in her best songs, but if you’re into all things Australian, it should prove to be a pretty good watch. 1. This really is great. It is a great listen all the way through. Was it a few months back or last year? Doesn’t matter, people should check it out. The whole thing washes over you, and that is pretty impressive. A weird reminder about Kick as one of those albums where pretty much the whole thing could have been on radio (and half of it was). Kind of like Def Leppard “Hysteria’- an album full of singles. Barnett is a phenomenal songwriter in her own right, but this was really fun. I can’t wait for her full-length.

  2. Beck covered ‘Kick’ a few years ago, with a wide variety of artists.
