We Were Promised Jetpacks

We Were Promised Jetpacks is part of a triumvirate of fine Scottish sad-sack indie rockers on FatCat that also includes Frightened Rabbit and the Twilight Sad. The Jetpack crew splits the difference between Frightened Rabbit’s straightforward, amped-up singer-songwriter fare and the Twilight Sad’s horizon-spanning epics, and they add their own flavor in the form of math-rock and post-punk flourishes. All those elements are present in “Safety In Numbers,” the excellent lead single from the group’s upcoming album Unraveling. Hear it below.

Unraveling is out this fall on FatCat.

  1. Ugh. This song is utter garbage compared to their early stuff. Sounds like they’re polishing off the rough edges for a more radio approach. Boring.

    • Yeah. Sadly i agree… i really miss their “dragged out” songs that start silently and calm, and then just rise to become so powerful with their huge beats and sick bass!
