Ocean Party

“It’s all the same/ Nothing ever really changes.” So goes one of the most memorable lyrics from the Ocean Party’s “Wading In,” a promising offering from the Aussie outfit. In a sense they’re right: “Wading In” certainly echoes the Bunnymen’s “The Killing Moon” among other classic new wave tracks. Yet the way this band weaves in elements of fine twilight-shaded pop-rockers from Pulp to Arab Strap to Interpol to the Clientele shows that you can still build something fresh out of time-tested elements. Wade into it below.

“Wading In” will be included on an upcoming album, details TBD.
