At any given time, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon has about 15 different musical projects going, and he’s about to add another one to the list. This one is called Jason Feathers, and it’s a trio with his sometime bandmate S. Carey and Astronautalis, a rapper from Minneapolis. There’s been talk of this team-up for a while, but now it looks like it’s actually happening, and it also features input from Gayngs mastermind Ryan Olson. They’ve shared a minute-long teaser of something called “Do Oro,” and it sounds like a horror-movie synth drone with a few slick pop undercurrents. Check out the preview below.

It’s tough to make any predictions based on 70 seconds of music, but this could be pretty cool.

  1. This actually sound pretty cool. It’s almost like Vernon’s own little Sisyphus

  2. I can get behind this. What’s up with the Crass symbol? Looks like a combination of Crass and that new-ish duo Youth Code.

  3. Astronautalis is incredibly underrated and one of my favorite rappers. Great to see him get a mention on Stereogum even if only as part of a Julian Vernon side project. His song “The Wondersmith and His Sons” is a good place to start for anyone that’s interested.

  4. What a lovely tease.
