Watch Arcade Fire Pay Tribute To Nirvana At Washington Show

There are too many Arcade Fire covers to list here anymore, but if you haven’t heard by now that the band is covering a song from a local artist at each show, you must not be visiting very often. The latest stop on their world tour was in George, Washington and, of course, the band paid tribute to Nirvana. Win Butler did a few lines from “Smells Like Teen Spirit” during the intro and outro of “Rococo.” He didn’t play the full track, but the crowd got pretty excited to hear the nod to their hometown (well, nearby anyway) heroes. Watch below.

  1. I was really happy they didn’t end up covering it. Just the nod was enough. Also this whole show was pretty fucking amazing. The Antlers ended up doing a really short set before Dan Deacon. I was able to sneak into the pit in my Wilfred costume. While they were playing Putting the Dog to Sleep I pointed at Peter Silberman and he had to try and hold in the laughter. Then they threw me the set list. I’m sorry. I’m still pretty excited about that.
