It’s been two years since the last Field Music album, but the Brewis brothers have kept busy — David released a new album under his side project School Of Language earlier this year and now Peter has announced a new album with Maximo Park’s Paul Smith. The album is called Frozen By Sight and Brewis took care of all the orchestral arrangements, which includes a string ensemble, while Smith adapted his travel writing to fit the music. “When I’m writing, it makes sense to try and document the world around me as well as the world within me,” Smith told The Guardian. “Usually, I like to depict everyday situations but the focus of Frozen By Sight is solely my external world, taken from descriptive passages in my notebooks, written as I travelled.” The first song released from the album is “Barcelona (At Eye Level)” and it’s an inventively arranged and thoroughly pleasant on-the-road tune.
