TMZ reports that one of Nicki Minaj’s backup dancers was bitten by a snake during rehearsals for the VMAs. According to MTV, the offending snake was a six-foot boa constrictor named Rocky, who has been in the entertainment industry for fifteen years. Boa constrictors are not venomous, though they can transmit infections. The dancer was treated by a medic on-site and then taken to the hospital as an extra precaution. A different snake, either another boa constrictor or a python, will take Rocky’s place during the actual performance. In the meantime, Minaj should probably hit up Britney to get some advice on how to handle large reptiles during a show.
