Zammuto - Anchor

Nick Zammuto used to be one half of the Books, but recording on his own, he’s lately moved away from that duo’s arty, theoretical laptop twinkle toward an idiosyncratic rock-band crunch. Zammuto will release Anchor, his new solo album, next week, and the songs we’ve posted from the album — “Great Equator,” “Hegemony,” “IO” — are simply unrecognizable as being the new music from the guy who was in the Books. He’s on to an entirely new page now, and as of today, you can stream all of Anchor over at NPR.

Anchor is out 9/2 on Temporary Residence.

  1. This album is beautiful. It sounds like music interpreted through the mind of a mechanical child floating through space in a ship made of collected dust. It’s other worldly, but oddly familiar. It is puzzling and enlightening. Perfectly sequenced. Magically mixed. Patiently performed. And Inspirational Challenging Cleansing Calming Fantastical record.
