Jessie Ware - "Want Your Feeling"

Sometimes, in the weeks before a record’s release, you can start to get that warm, confident feeling: Oh yeah, this is going to be a good one. That’s how many of us at Stereogum feel about Tough Love the sophomore album from the British soul singer Jessie Ware. All the songs we’ve heard from the album — the title track, “Share It All,” “Say You Love Me” — have been spectacular. The latest is “Want Your Feeling,” a lush and bubbling collaboration with Blood Orange mastermind Dev Hynes, and it’s absolutely on the level of those other three songs. Below, stream the studio version of the song and check out video of Ware performing it at the Barbican in London.

Tough Love is out 10/6 in the UK and 10/21 in North America, on PMR/Island.

  3. If you’re a songwriter and your name isn’t Dev Hynes, time to step your game up

  4. Yes! I thought the first three tunes we heard were pleasant but not exciting, and I was getting a little worried about this album. But this is excellent. It’s in her established soul vein but a little different, with a fully developed chorus. Love it.
