This Surprise Festival Performance Suggests Tom Hiddleston Is Qualified To Play Hank Williams

British actor Tom Hiddleston will play legendary country singer Hank Williams in an upcoming biopic, even if the Williams family would rather he didn’t. Earlier this year, Hank Williams III criticized the casting of Hiddleston, best known for his role as Loki in the Marvel films, and said that he wanted someone like Matthew McConaughey, who he said would better represent the manly (and American) values that his grandfather stood for. Hiddleston made a surprise appearance at Michigan’s Wheatland Festival to channel some of Williams by singing “Move It On Over” and give a preview of his performance. I Saw The Light begins shooting in Louisiana next month. Watch Hiddleston try on his country twang below and compare him to the original.
