Chief Keef Says He’s Been Dropped By Interscope

Chief Keef says he has been dropped by Interscope. The embattled Chicago rapper confirmed his departure from the label in a series of tweets today. “100% of everything goes to me now,” he wrote. “Jimmy [Iovine] it was cool splitting it with U But u gave yo spot up!”

Thus ends the business arrangement that brought us 2012’s Finally Rich, an album our own Tom Breihan summed up like so: “Finally Rich, then, is probably the best album of the year to use if you want to make your neighbors hate you. On its own merits, it succeeds wildly.” Rap Up notes that Finally Rich sold 50,000 copies in its first week and has moved 200,000 units total, which are very strong numbers these days. In light of today’s news, it’s unclear whether Keef’s long-delayed follow-up album Bang 3 will see release, and if so, on which label. But Keef’s Back From The Dead 2 mixtape is out in 10 days, and he asserts that Bang 3 will be out by Christmas.

We’ve contacted Interscope for confirmation. In the meantime, check out Keef’s tweets below.
