Soundgarden – “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” (Sly & The Family Stone Cover) (John Peel Session)

Later this month, Soundgarden will drop the box-set rarities collection Echo Of Miles: Scattered Across The Path upon the world, and we’ve already posted the band’s re-recording of their 1989 song “Storm.” The same collection also includes a cover of Sly And The Family Stone’s 1969 soul-funk classic “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin),” which the band recorded during a 1989 John Peel session. Soundgarden’s version is proof that the band, at least during that era, could use slap-bass and still sound like howling swamp monsters. Listen to the track below.

Echoes Of Miles is out 11/25 on A&M.
