Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold Scores Off-Broadway Play Wyoming

Sean Pecknold

Helplessness Blues, the last Fleet Foxes album, will turn four in a few months. Meanwhile, when last we heard from frontman Robin Pecknold, he was going to college and “working on songs.” And while we may be no closer to hearing new Fleet Foxes music, Pecknold does have something interesting going on musically. He’s written music for Wyoming, a new original play that’ll run off-Broadway this month. Neal Morgan, a percussionist who’s worked with Joanna Newsom and Bill Callahan, also worked on the music. And since Pecknold has no plans to record or release the score, you might have to actually spend an evening out at the theater to hear the thing. Music supervisor Scott Thomas, who tipped us off, writes that the music is “unlike any score for theater that I’ve ever heard.”

Lesser America’s production of Wyoming runs 1/15-31 at New York’s Theater For The New City. You can get tickets here.
