Who Should Play Jean Valjean In Rob Thomas’s Contemporary Les Misérables TV Reboot?

CHUCK BASS?! Just kidding, kind of. Chuck Bass got pretty Jean Valjean-y in, I think, the second-to-last season, but if we’re going to be a Jean Valjean from Gossip Girl it would obviously have to be Gossip Girl himself. Or, remember when Serena ran away almost married the guy from 7th Heaven and changed her name to Sabrina, or whatever? Hahah. She could play Jean Valjean! Who else? Chris Gethard? Hugh Laurie? Michael Ian Black? Read the blub and then we’ll brainstorm some more. From Deadline:

Rob Thomas is turning to a great European classic for his next series project. The Veronica Mars creator has teamed with actor-writer Graham Norris for a drama inspired by Victor Hugo’s novel Les Misérables.

Written by Norris, the contemporary take is a primetime soap about a brilliant lawyer running a legal exoneration program who fights to evade the consequences of his own unjust conviction many years before. He must navigate high society, continue his mission of saving innocent people, and manage his tumultuous family and romantic life — all while staying one step ahead of a ruthless U.S. Attorney who refuses to let the ghosts of the past die.

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW. Tumultuous family and romantic life? Can’t a guy catch one break? So, Joel McHale? He already has the suits for it. Hmmm. Batman? I know Batman is going to be busy with Batman Vs. Superman, but he’s always busy, I feel like. He could handle it. Chandler? David Cross? I don’t know, I feel like I’m a little all over the map but somehow TOTALLY on point! What do you think? Conan O’Brien?
