A Few Questions For The Man With The Record-Breaking BASE Jump From Mount Everest

  • Okay, I feel bad starting off on what is probably the most difficult question, and I don’t want to throw you off (or jump you off, right? haha) for the rest of them, so let me know if you want to circle back to this, but: WHY?!?!?!
  • Who cares about you? I don’t mean that to be, like, “Oh, who cares about this guy,” but just — Who cares about you, and why did they let you do this?
  • What did you do to reward yourself after the BASE jump? Go on vacation? Have lots of nice dinners? Did you promise yourself that now that you’ve done this one you’ll never do anything like this again?
  • What does BASE stand for?
  • Nevermind, I looked it up: “‘BASE’ is an acronym that stands for four categories of fixed objects from which one can jump: buildings, antennas, spans (bridges), and earth (cliffs).”
  • How many other hobbies do you have whose acronyms can also be used to describe suicides?

  • Have you ever heard the Ani Difranco song “Everest”?
  • It’s good, right?
  • I like her.
  • So, are you okay?
  • Get back to me! I love you, congratulations, stop doing this, bye!
