Subway Ballet!

Subway Ballet!

The New York Times made a beautiful, short documentary about subway break-dancers, which you can watch after the jump. It is the kind of thing that makes you remember why you fell in love in the first place. (And if you are not already in love with New York, like, what’s the matter? Are you sick? Did you talk to your doctor about New York?) Admittedly, I think you could play young people talking enthusiastically about how talented they are and how much sex they get and how bright their future shines over slow-motion footage of the phone book and I would probably watch it, but slow motion of those same people doing aerial break-dancing in a subway car? FUHGETTABOUTIT! (And by fuhgettaboutit I mean that I will enjoy watching something like that!) Anyway, this is just a real treat, like the opening credits of How To Make It In America, or pizza-by-the-slice, or something else that’s so great. Please enjoy:

Vaughn Monroe had it right.
