Jon Hamm is handsome and a good actor and a seemingly nice guy in real life and he’s very much of the moment so it totally makes sense for him to appear on Sesame Street as a nod to the parents who are forced to watch the show with their children and need the adrenaline rush of seeing a famous face talking about the alphabet. But a guest like this does make you reflect on your own childhood and try to think if there were any episodes of Sesame Street that you watched in which the guest was only famous enough to be the guest in the first place because of his expert portrayal of an alcoholic, womanizing philanderer who stole the identity of a dead soldier in order to climb the American corporate ladder as desperately as he possibly could.
