Let me begin by saying congratulations to Ben Affleck. It is a performer’s dream to become Entertainment Weekly’s “Entertainer of the Year.” A lot of people get into the business with the hopes of one day just making it on to Entertainment Weekly’s “Entertainers of the Year” list at all, and to take the top spot, well — that’s no small feat! Just kidding! I don’t know what this list is and it seems like everyone who was in anything this year is on it. (Other people included are Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Seth MacFarlane, Lena Dunham, the band fun., the cast of Homeland, etc.) (Some good for sure, but if you’re going to include everyone you are def gonna get some right.) Here is what Entertainment Weekly had to say about their choice:
Having captivated moviegoers both in front of and behind the camera with Argo, Ben Affleck earned the number one spot on our annual list of the most talented and original performers who entertained us in 2012.
Ok! Fair enough, basic, easy to understand. I did not see Argo, but I bet it was good! But was Argo good enough to make Ben Affleck YOUR “Entertainer of the Year”?! Is not your entertainer maybe, I don’t know, the cast of Parenthood? Or, I don’t know, Jake Johnson? H. Jon Benjamin did a lot of things, is he your entertainer of the year? Is it Ryan Gosling, as always? Abraham Lincoln? Is it, ummm, the superhero genre in general? Maybe Zooey Deschanel? NO JUDGING HERE! Tilda Swinton? Clinton Kelly from What Not to Wear? Mary Miller? I can keep listing people but you might as well just tell me, WHO IS IT?!
