Hey, What’s Up With Topher Grace?

Gabe Delahaye | December 2, 2009 - 4:48 pm

[In this feature, we will periodically check in to see what is up with Topher Grace.]

As disappointing as today’s vote in the New York State Senate over the legalization of gay marriage was, the reality is that it is only a matter of time. How much time we cannot know, but the march of progress, despite constant and sometimes painful setbacks, inevitably moves forward in the long-term. Of course, there is the very real concern that we won’t make the needed progress towards equal rights before 2012, and by then it will be too late. But since we will all be dead–FACT–we will just continue pushing for the legalization of gay angel marriage in heaven! In a few years from now (two years to be exact, also known as all the years that mankind has left, duh) our children will be shocked (SHOCKED!) to discover that it was ever true that two people who loved each other were not entitled to equal protection, benefits, and rights under the law. And we will shake our heads wistfully as we say, “It’s true, but it was a different time. Now pee into this filtration unit, it’s time to make drinking water.” WaterWorld.

If you don’t believe me, think about just a few short months ago, when you never could have imagined the veritable Topher Grace Dark Ages the world was living in. You didn’t even recognize how bad things were, because you couldn’t imagine them any different. And now look. See? Better!

So what is up with him?

Obviously, one assumes that Topher Grace has spent much of the past week the same way as the rest of us: flying his entire family out on a chartered jet to an exclusive Hawaiian resort to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. And I am sure that you would like to respect T-G’s privacy when it comes to his personal life as much as I do. Everyone deserves that! No matter how much we feel like we know them, and are best friends with them, and could just live our whole lives inside of them. So let’s honor and cherish his privacy the way we honor and cherish his art. But his professional life is up for discussion, so let us discuss it!

User Hafizul Anan posted a new bittorrent of 2004’s Win a Date with Tad Hamilton* starring Josh Duhamel, Kate Bosworth, and T-Dizzy as the charming and lovable best friend who Kate Bosworth finally realizes that she has loved the whole…well, NO SPOILERS.

Meanwhile, Jake, over at Not Just Movies Dot Blogspot Dot Com finally wrote a critique of Ocean’s 11, and he’s got some pretty nice things to say (finally!) about our boy’s important work on that landmark film (of 2001):

Nothing else in the whole movie is as funny as Topher Grace triumphantly laying down his hand and declaring “All. Reds.” to the whistling awe of his equally moronic buddies.

Let’s hope that some casting agents in Hollywood read that and those phones start ringing! Holler at our boy, SUITS!

But perhaps the most important Ice-Topher news comes from within our own ranks, as Videogum commenter Angizzle writes this IMPORTANT update:

I’ve been reading Videogum for months and finally found something important enough to force me to make a profile for comment, sharing Topher stories, perineum, etc.

Somehow, we missed something that was up with Topher Grace. Last week, Lifetime premiered the sure-to-be-an-award-winning film, Personal Effects starring the serious actor (not serious actor) Ashton Kutcher and Cougar-tastic Michelle Pfeiffer falling in love as they bond over shared grief of murdered loved ones. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1138489/ In the film, Pfeiffer’s character has a deaf teenage son. The opening scenes have a voice-over narrating his thoughts as he reflects on his dead father. It only took a few words for me to recognize Topher Grace’s heavenly voice in this uncredited role. How could we have missed this????

I don’t know how we could have missed this!!!!! But let’s all go program our DVRs and make sure we STOP missing it. The movie sounds really good for a lot of reasons. And welcome to Angizzle! You are doing GREAT so far!

And, of course, That ’70s Show remains popular in syndication

And there you go. That is what is up with Topher Grace. See you next time!
