T.I. & Young Thug – “Off-Set”

T.I. and Young Thug seem like they should have nothing in common between their shared hometown of Atlanta and the whole they’re-both-rappers thing. But they’ve got a rare on-record chemistry. Last year, they got together to make “About The Money,” one of the year’s best rap-radio hits, and a few assorted random tracks like “We Want War” and the “Eww Eww Eww” remix. And now they’ve teamed up to do the impossible. They’ve made a song for a Fast & Furious movie that doesn’t sound like an aging energy-drink exec’s idea of what rap music sounds like. “Off-Set” (which has nothing to do with Migos member Offset, as far as I can tell) is awesomely guttural Atlanta rap music with two engaged and energized stars trading off lines. It’s light years beyond the flatter-than-flat all-star Furious 7 single “Ride Out.” Listen to it below.
