Van Halen To Play Jimmy Kimmel In First U.S. TV Performance With David Lee Roth

It seems literally impossible that a DLR-fronted version of Van Halen have never before performed live on American television, but apparently that’s the case, because the band’s upcoming two-night stand on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live is being touted as “Van Halen’s first U.S. television performance with original lead singer David Lee Roth.” How is that possible? I’m sure those dudes still put on a show, because they’re pros, but Diamond Dave is 60 years old — his most telegenic years are decidedly behind him. (That said, few of us will be so telegenic at 60, so: respect.) Anyway, the Kimmel shows will comprise a VH “concert” performed on Hollywood Boulevard, and they will air next Monday and Tuesday nights. In the meantime, I encourage you to watch the video below of Van Halen in 1979 to get an idea of how this band looked and sounded when they should have made their American TV debut.

The Jimmy Kimmel Live episodes featuring Van Halen will air 3/30 and 3/31 at 11:35/10:35pm CT on ABC. Also, Halen are going on tour. Here are the dates via Rolling Stone:
