Everything Everything have always been very British, even among all the R&B callbacks and college rock influences, and they double down on that for “Regret.” The melodramatic drums, the chanting chorus, the vague geopolitical subtext — it’s all has the trappings of the crown. There’s some compelling vocal work here and it’s catchy in a primal sort of way, but lines like “Maybe I’m a human trying to click undo, man” land like lead and really bring the whole song down. “Regret” joins “Distant Past” as a single from their upcoming third album, Get To Heaven.
