Sharon Van Etten – “I Always Fall Apart” & “Pay My Debts”

Next week, Sharon Van Etten will release I Don’t Want To Let You Down, a five-track EP that serves as an extension of last year’s fantastic full-length Are We There. We’ve already heard the title track and “Just Like Blood,” and now the whole release is available to stream, alongside some track-by-track explanations from Van Etten that shed some light on the origins of these songs. For example, “I Always Fall Apart” was written while reminiscing about the times she was signed to and working for Ba Da Bing Records, who put out her sophomore record Epic. And “Pay My Debts” was “one of the first songs I wrote when I got my own apartment.” Read the rest of her explanations and stream the whole EP over on NPR.

I Don’t Want To Let You Down is out 6/9 via Jagjaguwar.
