Snoh Aaelegra is a Persian R&B-leaning singer who grew up in Sweden. She released her debut EP There Will Be Sunshine via Epic last fall and is currently working on a full-length with Kanye West affiliate and producer No I.D. Though she told Complex it was him who introduced her to RZA, no word on how she met Vince Staples, who appears on a remix of her RZA-produced lead single “Emotional.” DJ Dahi is credited with this odd remix, and the first three minutes of the songs sound like a slightly heavier version of the original, with many of RZA’s flourishes erased in favor of huge drums. Then the beat and tone of the song completely change to encompass Staples’ verse out of nowhere. Also odd: the player loops images from the video for “Emotional” but isn’t a new video itself. Huh. It sounds like two completely separate songs spliced together, but that verse from Staples is worth hearing. Listen.
