With its “Songs From Scratch” series, Yours Truly has helped bring into existence some truly great pieces of music, like Danny Brown and AraabMuzik’s “Molly Ringwald” or Jeremih and Shlohmo’s “Bo Peep (Do U Right).” For its latest pairing, the series has teamed the L.A. producer Mr. Carmack up with Kehlani, the airy Oakland R&B singer whose album You Should Be Here is well worth hearing. (Her “The Letter” is a particular favorite.) Together, Kehlani and Carmack have made “All In,” a truly lovely and plainspoken song about trying to figure out where you are in a relationship, with a bass-heavy drift of a track. It’s not the sort of song that pushes Kehlani or Carmack out of their respective comfort zones, but that doesn’t make it any less gorgeous.
