The longtime couple Jenny Weidl and Danny Rowland recorded and wrote plenty of gentle shoegaze together before moving to Seattle in 2010, where they met bassist Ian Brewer. Together the trio formed Seapony with the help of a vintage drum machine (which was later traded for the real live percussionist Aaron Voros). A Vision is the band’s third LP, but unlike the first two, it will be self-released. It’s a compilation of perfect tracks for breezy West Coast summers making you long for the sandy beaches with gorgeous golden hued sunsets while sweeping you to your next destination. The opening track “Saw The Light,” with its melancholic reflection on the horizon, accurately captures the jangle pop tone of the album. The soft whispering vocals in “Hollow Moon” describe the water surrounding them and question the fragility of relationships, a common theme in A Vision. It’s a soothing album — comfortable, dainty, with a slight distortion of the guitar, letting your mind wander through melancholic memories. The sun, the moon, and the sea are escapes in Seapony’s dreamy landscape. They’ve released two songs from their upcoming album already but you can stream the whole thing below in all its dream-pop glory.

A Vision is out 7/31. Pre-order it here.
