Future Islands, Lower Dens Members Help Baltimore Middle Schoolers Record Song About Riots

Baltimore is as deeply segregated a city as you’d probably expect. But say this for the people in the city’s predominantly white indie rock scene: They actually care about their town. Case in point: After the recent riots, members of Future Islands, Lower Dens, and Celebration helped a group of local middle schoolers record a song called “Believe In Baltimore.” The kids wrote and sang their lyrics, and Lower Dens leader Jana Hunter arranged their vocals and coached them. Baltimore filmmaker Chris LaMartina made a video for the song, and you can watch it below.
