Prince recently pulled all his music from every non-Tidal streaming service, but he’s got a new single that snuck its way onto Spotify anyway. (If you’re not a Tidal subscriber, listen while you can.) The new song is “Stare,” a deep funk vamp driven by a slapped bass and a busy horn section, and it’s got a great little callback to his own classic “Kiss.” We don’t know what Prince’s plans for the song are, but he and his 3rd Eye Girl backing band apparently have an album called The Hit & Run Album ready to come out anytime now, so perhaps “Stare” will end up on that. We don’t know anything concrete about the new Prince album, but maybe we should just listen to Sign O The Times on repeat until it shows up.
