Unalaska – “Skeleton” (Stereogum Premiere)

It’s always fun debuting a band’s first ever official single, and it’s even more fun when the single is fantastic. Unalaska is made up of Edo Van Breemen and Zachary Gray, who met while playing in a fictional band in the vampire movie Afflicted. Through this experience, they realized their musical chemistry and put together a debut EP. “Skeleton” is the first single from the EP. It’s a long song with many beginnings and ends, driven by a poppy guitar riff and other spacey loops. Just when you think “Skeleton” is coming to a close around 3:27, you hear the sound of two harmoniously plucked guitars, and back into the synth loops you go. Listen below.

The Unalaska EP is out 10/16 on Light Organ Records.
