Fucking “Magnets,” why didn’t it work? Like most of the superstar collaborations on Disclosure’s disappointing new Caracal, the song they recorded with Lorde is perfectly fine and nothing more. It’s a halting mid-tempo club track that lacks Settle’s sizzle, like something AlunaGeorge might have left on the cutting room floor. “Let’s embrace the point of no return,” Lorde sings, and the while the music around her hints at that kind of abandon, it never quite lets go. “Magnets” premiered on Beats 1 a few minutes ago, and you can stream it below.
