The Game has been getting a lot of heat lately for his explicit, romance-novel-level Instagram hashtags, but his new Skrillex collaboration is letting off sparks of it own. Titled “El Chapo,” presumably after the fugitive Mexican drug lord, it crams big, triumphant synth squelches into velvety bass drops and a recurring claim: “I am the God.” Hmmm, that’s a little close to Kanye, no? Anyway, the production is terrific and Game is rapping at hyper-speed. “El Chapo” comes along with the announcement that his new album The Documentary 2 will be a double album (sound familiar, Vince Staples?) and the first half will be out 10/9, with the second disc out the week after on 10/16.
