Look, we all have feelings about the LCD Soundsystem reunion. They only broke up five years ago, and they did it in about the most grand, sweeping, self-aggrandizing way that a band can break up. They’re already back with a new song and a new gig atop the Coachella poster. But even if you think it’s a bit lame for them to be coming back so soon — and this is a very defensible position — you still have to acknowledge that they were, quite recently, one of the best live bands on the whole upper-tier indie-rock touring circuit. At their peak, they were a sight to behold, and they went away quickly enough that they didn’t have time to descend from that peak. So the news that they’ll be touring this year is good news.
On the band’s website, there’s a quick note that simply says “2016 tour dates coming soon.” We don’t yet know what “tour dates” means, of course. They could just be doing this OutKast-in-2014 style, playing at every major festival and then disappearing again. But a chance to see LCD Soundsystem live again isn’t the sort of thing to take for granted.
