The Body – “Hallow / Hollow”

The Body returns to pummeling noise after taking, at least for them, what amounted to a bit of a breather on “Shelter Is Illusory,” the paranoid lead single from their upcoming new album No One Deserves Happiness. That track made it onto our 5 best of the week, and their new one is similarly intense: “Hallow / Hollow” is the Portland duo at their best and most raucous, a ferocious and violent screaming match between guitars and drums. There are the requisite screams and a haunting choral run that occasionally break up the wall of sound, but otherwise this one’s a straight ride down to the pit of darkness. A good place to be, it turns out. Listen below.

No One Deserves Happiness is out 3/18 via Thrill Jockey.
