A Place To Bury Strangers – “oh no / cool sensations / gong home”

New York noise rockers A Place To Bury Strangers are following up last year’s Transfixation full-length with an 7″ of fucked-up and spontaneous pop songs. It’s called Kicking Out Jams. “I always wanted to have a band that would just come up with real pop songs on the spot,” Oliver Ackerman explained in a press release. “This is that minus the pop and plus the fucked up rock and roll.” He goes on to expand:

This is our raw, uncut, thought-of-on-the-spot A Place To Bury Strangers. The inspiration is you. You have inspired us to kick you in the ass and make you dance or at least flail your arms around until you puke. These five? tracks were created in five? different locations throughout the world in the middle of the crowd with people breathing down our necks and stepping on our feet. Sometimes someone would grab the microphone away and bark like a chicken and sometimes grab our collective ass. Here is the soul squeezed from the past years of the band’s existence on this platter.

Today, they’re sharing three out of the five tracks that are featured on the 7″, “Oh No,” “Cool Sensations,” and “Gong Home.” And even though it’s three tracks smushed together, the whole thing only runs 3-and-a-half-minutes, the length of a typical pop song. Listen below.

Tracklist:
01 “Oh No”
02 “Cool Sensations”
03 “Gong Home”
04 “Here Comes The Fuck You”
05 “Guitar Through The Public Address System”

Kicking Out Jams is out 4/8 via Famous Class.
