John Cale To Perform The Velvet Underground & Nico With Animal Collective, The Libertines, Mark Lanegan

John Cale is never not busy. When I interviewed the multi-instrumentalist and former member of the Velvet Underground earlier this year, he was about to release a re-working of his seminal album Music For A New Society and was already recording new material. Cale’s been performing entire solo albums live for awhile now, and today it was announced that he will be doing the same with The Velvet Underground & Nico. On 4/3, Cale will perform the classic debut album in its entirety at the Philharmonie de Paris in France, and he will be joined by a slew of special guests including Animal Collective, who included Cale on their song “Hocus Pocus” off of their latest album Painting With. The other guests slated to perform with Cale are: Pete Doherty and Carl Barât of the Libertines, Mark Lanegan, Etienne Daho, Lou Doillon, and Nick Franglen of Lemon Jelly. Tickets are currently sold out.
