Bob Dylan Announces New Album Fallen Angels, US Summer Tour

Last year, Bob Dylan released Shadows In The Night, his album of covers of songs that Frank Sinatra made famous. The album’s reception, I think it’s fair to say, was widespread bafflement. People love Bob Dylan for a lot of reasons, but his singing voice isn’t typically one of them, especially now that he sounds like Tom Waits doing his best Cookie Monster impression. But Dylan is not done with that project. We’ve already reported that Dylan has a second album of Sinatra covers ready to go, and now it looks like it’ll come out this summer.

Dylan just announced a summer North American tour, with Mavis Staples opening. And in the process, Dylan confirmed rumors that he’s got a new album called Fallen Angels on the way. In the tour announcement, Dylan’s website announced that anyone who bought tickets for the summer tour (except, weirdly, for the dates in Boston and Indianapolis) will get a redemption code to get a CD copy of Fallen Angels.) Meanwhile, according to this Reddit thread, Dylan will also release a Record Store Day single featuring four songs: “Melancholy Mood,” “All Or Nothing At All,” “Come Rain Or Come Shine,” and “That Old Black Magic.” It seems likely that those songs will end up on the album. Below, check out Dylan’s tour dates, which include a ton of spring dates in Japan:
