Early-’00s indie-rap heroes of the world unite! Mr. Lif was one of the leading lights of the Def Jux crew back in the day, and next month, he’ll release Don’t Look Down, his first album since 2009’s I Heard It Today. We’ve already posted the Edan-produced “Blacastan.” And now, as Consequence Of Sound points out, he’s shared “World Renown,” in which he teams up with Del The Funky Homosapien, the loopy West Coast veteran who helped establish the voice of the California rap underground. They’re deeply different rappers; Lif is clinical while Del is starry-eyed. But when they’re bouncing bars off of each other, they have a very real chemistry. Heart the track below.
