Culture Abuse – “Turn It Off” (Stereogum Premiere)

Culture Abuse refer to their sound as “kitchen sink punk” — the San Francisco band incorporates elements from punk, hardcore, college rock, pop, and even reggae. This array of styles is made cohesive through the band’s distinctly defiant attitude, juxtaposing driving guitars with slacker vocals. Touring with acts like Nothing and Wrong, the band finds a space of their own among peers, where noisy punk and easy to love pop-rock blend together for a listening experience that’s as energetic as it is evocative. “Turn Off,” from the upcoming album Peach, is a prime example of their powers. Listen below.
