The 5 Best Videos Of The Week

“Rihanna boobs” are probably not, in themselves, enough to guarantee a music video’s artistic merit. And so I didn’t include Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” video on this week’s list. I hope everyone appreciates my restraint. Also, I didn’t pick Babymetal’s “The One” video, since it’s really just a live video, but it bears mentioning that a Babymetal live show looks exactly the way you’d hope it would. This week’s picks are below.

5. Olga Bell – “Randomness” (Dir. Sef Akins)

This video represents a transparent attempt to hijack the look and feel of early-’90s house-pop videos, and I am very OK with that.

4. A$AP Ferg – “Let It Bang” (Feat. Schoolboy Q) (Dir. Shomi Patwary & A$AP Ferg)

This video represents a transparent attempt to hijack the look and feel of mid-’90s New York goon-rap videos, and I am very OK with that.

3. Sam Cohen – “Let The Mountain Come To You” (Dir. Erez Horovitz & Eric Giordano)

You that feeling when you’re watching a music video and you have no idea what’s going to happen next? There is a decent chance that you don’t know that feeling. It almost never happens. But it does happen in this one.

2. Andy Stott – “Butterflies” (Dir. Michael England)

It takes a rare sense of vision to find the sublime in things that people see everyday, and this one manages it with New York. Also, that dancer comes off looking like a superhero.

1. Pup – “If This Tour Doesn’t Kill You, I Will” (Dir. Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux)

I’ve never quite understood the idea that touring life is hell, having never been on a tour myself. After watching this video, I feel like I get it now.
