Hey, it’s baseball season! To celebrate, Pacific Northwestern sludge-rock legends Melvins have released their own discomfiting version of the old standard “Take Me Out To The Ballgame.” Melvins just released one new album on Friday, and they’ve got another one, Basses Loaded, coming in June. The concept of the album is that it’s the band working with various guest bassists, including Krist Novoselic and Butthole Surfer Jeff Pinkus. To confuse things a bit, as Pitchfork explains, “Ballgame” has Melvins drummer Dale Crover on drums and original Melvins drummer Mike Dillard of drums. And to confuse things further, this is just a vaguely sinister dinky-keyboard rendition of the song; you can’t really hear a whole lot of bass. In any case, you can stream the Melvins’ version below.
