Merchandise – “Flower Of Sex” Video

Florida punks Merchandise haven’t dropped a full-length project in a couple years since making a great showing with After The End. Frontman man Carson Cox formed a new duo called Death Index with Italian punk Marco Rapisarda. Guitarist David Vassalotti has his solo thing going. But the outfit has reconvened to offer the one-off “Flower Of Sex” along with a set visuals directed by Cox himself. The song is an airy, shimmering romp with deep, driving bass and Cox’s sultry monotone as anchors. The video is trippy, with multiple layers of bright, colorful overlays both projected onto Cox and used as backgrounds to give the effect of a moving collage. The layers are only stripped momentarily for Cox to step into the fore and deliver his lyrics. Watch.

“Flower Of Sex” is out now on 4AD as a digital single. Purchase it here, and revisit our 2014 Merchandise cover story here.
