The Kills’ new album Ash & Ice is accompanied by artwork featuring 15 symbols, one for each of the 13 tracks plus the volcano and martini glass from the LP’s cover art. Earlier this year, the band put out a call for 15 fans willing to get the symbols tattooed on their bodies. “We will be there. We will film it. We will photograph it. We will pay for it,” Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart wrote in their pitch. “This is essentially an art project. A short film will be made and shown wherever and whenever we see fit.” And so, in early June, 15 devoted Kills fans assembled at LA’s Shamrock Social Club Inc. to get their tattoos, and today, the band have shared the resulting short film, set to their song “Hard Habit To Break.” Watch it below via Noisey.
