Nervy New York postpunks Parquet Courts and UGK rap legend Bun B both have roots in Texas, but beyond that, you might not expect the two to have that much in common. So it was a massive fucking surprise when Bun B joined the band on last night’s episode of the Late Show With Stephen Colbert. An expanded version of Parquet Courts, with members of PC Worship and Eaters filling things out, performed “Captive Of The Sun,” from the very good new album Human Performance. And in the middle of the stage, looking and sounding completely at home, Bun sauntered to center-stage, delivered a verse, and came off as someone very happy to be there. This was extremely fucking cool, and I am happy for everyone involved. Watch the performance below.
Human Performance is out now on Rough Trade.
