Neil Young & TIDAL Skin A NYC Subway Car

Neil Young’s latest live album EARTH came out back in June, and to celebrate, Young partnered with streaming service TIDAL to create an “installation” piece for the New York City subway system. The S train is an elusive shuttle line (“S” stands for shuttle) that runs in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. Young and TIDAL decorated one of the Manhattan S trains with various nature-related photographs, and according to EcoWatch, the subway cars are “filled with facts that Young wants to share with riders.” It will run 7/15-7/31 from Grand Central Station, and anyone who visits the train today from noon until 3 p.m. will receive a voucher for three months of ~*free*~ TIDAL. If you are a TIDAL member already, you can stop by Grand Central and pick up a complementary round-trip MetroCard to ride the train. Or, if you’re dishonest like me and don’t care about the Earth Train, you can pick up the MetroCard and take the subway someplace else entirely free of charge! Like the beach or Prospect Park, for example. Just an idea 😉 .

Here are a few photos of the Earth Train:

While the concept is well-intentioned, let’s not forget that this is just a bigass, good looking ad masquerading as activism.
